Grammar Mini Lesson #1: Types of Sentences

Students included each type of sentence in their autobiography writing.  These sentences will be required within all of their remaining writing assignments throughout the year.  (See Resource Packet for additional information.)

Grammar Mini Lesson #2: Conjunctions

Along with each type of sentence, we covered coordinating conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions, and correlative conjunctions.  Students needed to have different conjunctions in different types of sentences.  (See Resource Packet for additional information.)

Grammar Mini Lesson #3: Word Choice-adjectives, adverbs, and figurative language

Students included each skill from the anchor chart below in their story writing.  We focused on making our writing appeal to the senses and become more exciting.  (See Resource Packet for additional information.)

Grammar Mini Lesson #4: "Homo" Prefix: Homophones, Homonyms, and Homographs

Students included words from the anchor chart below in their opinion writing.  We focused on differentiating between the three types and taking the time to use each type correctly in student writing. (See Resource Packet for additional information.)
